 Superhero Swamp!!!!! 5/26/2009 11:21:17 AM
bought the swamp book for my grandson Adam who is 4.5 years old, thinking he would love the story about the swamp animals. My son-in-law and granddaughter Kailee who just turn 3 came by the house and Kailee saw the book on the table and begged me to read it to her. I am thinking it is too long for her to sit through and that she is not old enough to really get this but she was relentless and I gave in. She made herself comfortable on the couch and I sat at her feet as she laid on the other end. As I read she sat up and before I knew it she was under my armpit. She did not fidget or talk but listened intently as I read. When I finished reading she hung her head and said “Nana, I am really sad.” I asked her why was she sad. I am thinking this is not a sad book. She replied, “because I don’t know what kind of Superhero I am.” I wanted to cry thinking she get this and she is only three. I was so amazed. So we had a discussion on what each of the hero’s meant. She ask me to read it again so I did and at the end she was full of delight and said I know which Superhero I am. I am the hero of caring. I was amazed the she got it right. If you knew her you would agree. She is very sensitive to others and cares deeply about their feelings.
Thanks for letting me share our story and how touch my granddaughter was by your story.
Blessings,
Patty
