Patricia’s Story
“I began by giving a blessing to my husband. As head of our home and our extended family, I believe he should be the first to receive a "formal" blessing from
me (and it was good practice for both of us)! :o) Together, my husband and I traveled to the city where our 3 grown children live this past weekend. Our son
is married with 2 sons, our daughter is recently divorced and is raising 2 young daughters. I had read and prepared the blessing for each of the 3 adult children
(all in their early 40's) by going onto the blessing.com website, reading the book the Blessing by Drs. Trent and Smalley and studying other sources for blessing,
including Strong Families.com. I prayed for several weeks about how to "capture the words" for each person and the Lord in His graciousness gave them to me.
We told the children that we were just coming for a visit and then watched for a time to give the personalized blessing to each, one at a time, in a private
setting. My husband and I laid hands on each one. I had printed out their blessing on parchment paper which we left with them. But we also verbally gave them
their blessing. It wasn't the most elaborate presentation, but we could tell they were very pleased to receive their blessings.

I have been a Christian for 50 years, my husband for 60 years and we've done a lot of special occasions for these
children but never a planned, deliberate giving of a blessing. I never did receive a blessing from my family...actually
was disowned by my mother when I left her religion to follow a personal relationship with Jesus 50 years ago. Giving
the blessing to my children was an absolute joy for me! I am leading a small group of women in the church we attend
to extend blessings to their families. |

I am also a prayer intercessor at our church. I asked the Lord to show me my path
for this year (2012). I have been sending weekly blessings to my children and grandchildren all of 2011.
His answer was move forward in blessing and prayer! He has thrilled me with His goodness!
Thank you for all your help!
